Skin Health Basics for Australian Conditions

Sun protection, a gentle routine and when to see a doctor.

Sun exposure causes most of the long-term changes people see in their skin, and the Australian sun is strong for much of the year.

    Daily habits

    Start with these:

    • Broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, plus a hat, sunglasses and shade outdoors
    • A gentle cleanser and a moisturiser that suits your skin
    • Avoiding smoke and limiting alcohol
    • Enough sleep and a balanced diet

    When to see a doctor

Have a doctor check any new, changing or unusual spot or mole. It's also worth seeing a doctor if you notice a change in your skin you can't explain.

This guide is general information, not medical advice.
