A consultation is a medical appointment. Your doctor assesses your concerns, explains your options and answers your questions, and you're under no obligation to go ahead with anything. You can take time to decide.
Before the appointment
There isn't much to prepare, but it helps to bring:
- A list of your medications, supplements and medical conditions
- Details of any cosmetic treatment you've had before
- Any questions you'd like to ask
During the consultation
Your doctor takes a medical history, asks about your goals and examines the areas you'd like to discuss. They'll explain the options that suit you, what each can and can't achieve, and the option of doing nothing.
Deciding
Before you decide, your doctor goes through the risks, recovery and full cost. If a treatment isn't suitable for you, they'll tell you, and you're welcome to go away and think it over.
Afterwards
If you go ahead, you'll sign a consent form before treatment and have a review afterwards. If you decide against it, that's fine, and there's nothing more you need to do.
